I
believe that Christopher Candles (Alex), from “Into the Wild” by Jon
Krakauer, is a very brave person, and has to have a lot of courage for what he
had done. He is probably the most amazing person I had ever heard of. Everyone
should have courage like him, to just go out and hike to Alaska, which
would probably never cross my mind in a million years. He should be
rewarded for his braveness in a memorial site, or have more stories of him
told. He finally made to Alaska, which to me is amazing! It is very weird how
he just disappeared like that, but he probably had his reasons. This book
is a lot better than I had expected. McCandless must have truly connected with
nature to be able to survive out there. He burned all the cash in his wallet,
that would have taken me a lot of courage to even burn money, it’s just a
waste, he could have given it to a homeless person who needed it, but it’s too
late now. At least he donated $25,000 to charity. He could have sold his car
for more money to donate, but I guess that wasn’t his intentions. I want to
know what was going through his mind when he got up to leave, did he turn back
for a split second, or did tell any of his friends? He is a very mysterious
person. At this point in the book, we haven’t really learned much about
his personality except for the he is extremely daring. I feel like while he was
in the wild, he was looking for a different person, like his inner self, and
for a connection with nature. Some people go on adventures to find their inner self,
and a lot of people find it, but some people need to try different things to
find theirs.
